What can I get out of counseling?

Everyone needs some help from time to time. Seeing a therapist gives you an opportunity to have someone listen to you fully and objectively. I will serve as a guide to help you learn things about yourself that you may not have known before. In working with couples and families, I will serve as a referee in your relationship, ensuring that everyone gets a chance to be heard. More than anything, what you can get out of therapy is a sense of becoming the person, couple, or family that you always wanted to be. We all have an idea in our head of what that looks like and therapy can help you get there.

Do I need therapy?

As a wise woman once told me, everyone could use therapy! What she meant by that was who couldn’t use someone to support and listen to them unconditionally and help them become the most ideal version of themselves.

What are your hours?

Sessions with a counselor can be scheduled weeknights from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturdays from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm. You can call (814.616.3199) to schedule an appointment or visit the Schedule page

How long are the counseling sessions? How frequent?

Each session is fifty five minutes total. Appointments are scheduled at the top of the hour and it is my job to watch the time and wrap up at the appropriate time. I typically like to meet with my clients every week when they first come to me, then space them further apart as needed. Ending therapy is a joint decision that we come to together and gradually get there.

What can I expect during my first session?

When you schedule an appointment with me, you will be expected to arrive a few minutes early to fill out some brief paperwork. After you have finished, you will be welcomed back to a comfortable space to answer some basic questions about the challenges you are facing. After that, we will discuss some brief background information to help me get a sense of who you are as a person. Basically, the first session is for me to get to know you.

How can I pay for my counseling sessions?

Please visit the Payments section of this website. If you have any further questions, please call (814) 616-3199.

What is confidentiality and how does it work?

Confidentiality means that anything that is said during our sessions, stays in those sessions. I will never disclose anything that is talked about during our time together with anyone, unless you are under the age of fourteen. There are three exceptions to this, which can be found on the Privacy Policy page here.

How do I schedule an appointment?

There are several ways to schedule an appointment with Golden Outlook Counseling. You can call (814) 616-3199 between the hours of 8:00 am and 8:00 pm, or schedule an appointment online here. If you would prefer coming up with a time through email, feel free to contact me here.
