Have you heard the term "giving me life" that the youths are using now?
According to Urban Dictionary (which I don't condone use of, but is generally pretty hilarious), it means something that you get excited or pumped about.
AKA, it's something, or a bunch of something's that keep you going when you're feeling down or when you're having a particularly rough day. The best thing about these life givers is that they can be small.
Currently, starting to run again, Emma Watson as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf in the Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events, Breakfast with Elvis coffee from Premium Coffee here in Erie, Girl Scout Cookies, and This Is Us are the things currently giving me life. Apparently, TV is way more important in my life than I ever thought it was.
The point is, like I talked about in another blog, it's the little things in life that make it great. Yes, we will all have huge moments that will define us. Marriage, births, adoption, new jobs, death, divorce, and everything in between are causes of despair or happiness. But the every day things are what keep you going to get to that next moment. Are you taking time to enjoy them?
If you aren't, you might be missing out. Take some time to yourself to do something you enjoy. Or better yet, start seeing a counselor to help you see these things in your life. Make that the thing you do for yourself. If for no other reason, having someone listen to you without judgement and provide unconditional support is really, really nice. Plus, if you have insurance, you may not even have to pay for it.
